On February 29, a training seminar on postoperative pain management for nurses was held at the National Research Oncology Center, with the support of the Department of Management and Development of Nursing. The training was conducted by Paolo Colet, PhD, Assistant Professor, School of Medicine, Nazarbayev University, Co-Director for Evidence Implementation, Kazakhstan Center for Evidence-Based Nursing: A JBI Affiliated Group. This training seminar was conducted as part of a joint study by the NROC with the School of Medicine of Nazarbayev University and the Karaganda Medical University: “Implementing post-surgical pain management among adult patients in a multidisciplinary surgical unit in National Research Oncology Center in Kazakhstan: A best practice implementation project.” As part of this study, nurses at the National Research Oncology Center assessed the situation with postoperative pain management and also the knowledge and skills of nurses. The seminar discussed the use of pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods of pain relief by nurses after surgery.
