Every year, more than 20 countries around the world host an International Gynecological Cancer Awareness Day event to raise women's awareness of risk factors, identify signs and take action to fight ovarian, cervical and endometrial cancers.
⠀
In 2018, more than 1.3 million women worldwide were diagnosed with gynecological cancers: about 44% are cervical cancer, 23% are new cases of ovarian cancer, 29% are endometrial cancer, and another 5% are other sites.
⠀
According to KazNIOR, the absolute number of cases of morbidity in 2019 with for the first time in life with an established diagnosis of malignant neoplasm shows the following data: breast cancer - 4955 (26.6), cervical cancer - 1797 (9.6), ovarian cancer - 1146 (6.2).
⠀
The structure of the frequency of malignant diseases in women by rank changed more significantly: uterine cancer rose from 4th to 3rd place, ovarian cancer dropped from 3rd to 4th place compared to 2018:
▪️ in the first place is breast cancer - 27.2%,
▪️ in second place is cervical cancer - 9.9%,
▪️ on the third, cancer of the body of the uterus - 6.5%,
▪️ on the fourth, ovarian cancer - 6.3%.
⠀
Often in women, malignant neoplasms are diagnosed too late. This is mainly due to late seeking medical help and delayed screening.
⠀
Note that oncogynecological diseases can be prevented.
Regular screening and check-ups and healthy lifestyle choices can protect women from cancer. And it is worth remembering that with early diagnosis of cancer, even a complete cure is possible.
⠀
There are national screening programs for the detection of oncological diseases in Kazakhstan:
🔹️ breast cancer - women from 40 to 70 years old.
🔹️ cervical cancer - women from 30 to 70 years old.
⠀
Screening can be done at the clinic at the place of attachment free of charge.
⠀
In addition, at the legislative level, the right of workers to social leave with pay for screening is enshrined.
