One of the priorities of the state policy in the field of health care in the Republic of Kazakhstan is the prevention, early diagnosis and treatment of cancer.
According to statistics, in 2020, 29,701 new cases of malignant neoplasms, excluding skin cancer, were registered in the Republic of Kazakhstan, for the first time in their lives. Of these, the absolute number of gastroenterological diseases: esophageal cancer - 1082, stomach cancer - 2497, colon cancer - 1645, liver cancer - 861, pancreatic cancer - 1143.
On February 4, at the initiative of the International Union Against Cancer (UICC), World Cancer Day (WorldCancerDay) is celebrated annually, this year it was held under the slogan: “Create a future without cancer. The time to act is now." The goal is prevention, early diagnosis, treatment and informing patients about the availability of screenings.
On Saturday, February 5, 2022, an Open Day was held at the National Cancer Research Center dedicated to the problems of precancerous conditions and tumor pathologies of the stomach.
On the day of the event, 16 people consulted an oncologist, a gastroenterologist. In 3 patients, cancer of the cardial part of the stomach, cancer of the esophagus, and cancer of the head of the pancreas were diagnosed. All patients are referred for follow-up examination and treatment.
– The National Cancer Research Center annually develops an action plan. We try to hold Open Days every month. Because the number of people suffering from cancer is growing every day. Unfortunately, the vast majority of patients do not know their diagnosis and the disease is detected during such events. This is the main purpose of the Open Day. We are ready to accept not only residents of the city of Nur-Sultan, but also people from any region of Kazakhstan. Oncological diseases detected in the early stages are treatable,” said Indira Kusainova, head of the Consultative and Diagnostic Center of the National Scientific Cancer Center.
According to doctors, in the early stages of the development of stomach cancer, as a rule, there are no specific clinical symptoms. Patients are concerned about the feeling of general discomfort in the upper floor of the abdominal cavity, most often associated with concomitant diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, or with background inflammatory changes in the gastric mucosa. Therefore, preventive examinations of the population are one of the main ways of early diagnosis and effective treatment of patients.
We remind you that screening can be done at the clinic at the place of attachment within the guaranteed volume of free medical care (GOBMP) and the system of the Compulsory Social Health Insurance Fund (OSMS) in 3 areas: breast cancer - women from 40 to 70 years old .; cervical cancer - women from 30 to 70 years old. colorectal cancer - men and women from 50 to 70 years.
It is important to remember: early diagnosis of oncological diseases is the key to successful treatment and saving lives!
